Medart bar peelers shape hot-rolled, cold-drawn and extruded bars to precise diameter. In addition to controlling bar size, our peelers provide an improved finish and remove conditions, such as decarb layers and residual metal stresses. Available as both complete systems and as components for integration into a process line, Medart bar peelers regularly process carbon, alloy, stainless steel, titanium, copper and brass. Peeling is not all about speed. Several factors must be considered when designing a peeler, including the specific horsepower requirement for each cubic inch of material removal, torque and horsepower available at specific RPM’s of the spindle, and carbide selection and chip loads.
R-Class and G-Class Peelers
R-Class peelers can be adjusted for bar diameter by setting individual tool cassettes. This must be done when the machinery is stopped. The G-Class peelers adjust all tools simultaneously, and it is not necessary to shut down the machine to change size or compensate for tool wear.
